"I have worked with Joan in several capacities, but mostly as a colleague at Neighborhood Involvement Program. As a writer and literature enthusiast, Joan uniquely brings this to her work in a creative and rich way. When working with clients, she is able to sit with each person in his/her journey with an open mind, without judgment. This frees her to listen to the client's story with compassion. Often using narrative therapy, she is able to bring her own love of writing and the arts into the room and walk with the client as he or she finds their own symbols, metaphors, and images which are either blocking or opening the path to rewrite their story. Empowering each client to take on new challenges of the imagination and self - no longer trapped in the old story line - is a gift she brings to her clients.
Having observed one of Joan's art groups, I also heartily recommend trying those. It is an opportunity to explore old/new paths, examine areas of being stuck, and embrace healing, all through conversation, art and poetry (and no, you don't have to be an artist or a poet). Really fun!"

"Joan is a competent, sensitive and creative therapist. I have taken her 'Healing Word Workshop' and found it to be a stimulating and eye-opening experience. She is also a tremendous editor and writer."

"I had the pleasure of working with Joan at the Neighborhood Involvement Program for almost two years. During that time I came to know her as a competent, creative therapist. Joan is caring and empathetic of her clients and has a great ability to help them to see what they truly want in their life and then giving them the tools to work toward that goal. I would highly recommend Joan as a therapist as well as a creative group leader."

"Joan Hause was an individual/group supervisee of mine during portions of her therapy work at the Neighborhood Involvement Program (NIP), from September 2009 to June 2011. Ms. Hause impressed me as a thoughtful, perceptive, creative, intelligent therapist, whose quiet wisdom and calm demeanor most clients would find reassuring. I enjoyed working with her very much. While at NIP, she utilized numerous learning opportunities about a wide variety of client populations and therapy techniques. She applied her core strengths to her work with NIP psychotherapy clients, many of whom are survivors of chronic traumatic experiences and/or the stress of lower socio-economic status."

I witnessed her work during a Mind, Body,Spirit Group when she came in as a guest therapist. She has a thoughtful and inspiring way of helping people heal through words."
