Meet Rebecca Blackwell
Welcome - I am so glad you are here. Sometimes the reasons for seeking therapy are clear: you may have experienced a life transition, loss, or recent trauma. Perhaps you have been feeling stuck for a while, unable to escape from ingrained patterns of perfectionism, people-pleasing, or substance use. Like many in this changing world, you may feel overwhelmed by the realities of climate change, economic stress, or global unrest. Wherever you are, there is hope for lasting, meaningful change. My goal is to provide warm, nonjudgmental support as we “get under the hood” and address the issues that are holding you back.
Therapy is a place where your pain is welcomed, held, and, ultimately, transformed. My therapeutic approach integrates psychodynamic, relational cultural therapy, and attachment-based perspectives of mental health. Together, we will come to an understanding of what got you to this point and the path you envision for your future. By developing awareness of your emotional world and how you relate to yourself and others, you will become better equipped to navigate life with greater intention and agency. Knowing that internal struggles do not exist in a vacuum, our work will honor the influence of social, economic, and environmental forces on you and your experience of the world. I work with clients from all backgrounds and exercise cultural sensitivity and responsiveness. Issues of power and identity are often central to our stories, and I enthusiastically welcome such exploration in the therapeutic process. I am currently working toward independent licensure as a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) under the supervision of Joan Hause, MA, MFA, LCPP. Before completing my master’s degree in Integrated Behavioral Health at the University of Minnesota, I spent a decade working in the performing arts and community education. This background shows up in my way of working with clients, as I value the role of storytelling and self-expression as methods of self-development. I believe creativity and play are key aspects of being human. In my free time, I enjoy singing, practicing yoga, running, and being out in nature. I aim to “walk the walk” alongside my clients, prioritizing learning, balance, and self-care in all aspects of life. Thank you for reading through my page. I encourage you to reach out if you would like to discuss working together. I offer a free 15-minute consultation with all interested clients and would be happy to answer any questions you may have. Take care, Rebecca. Insurance I can take: America's PPO, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, Health EZ, Health Partners, Hennepin Health, Medicaid (MA), and UCare. I also take private pay and Health Savings Accounts. To schedule an appointment with Rebecca, fill out our "Book Appointment" form below. |
