Melissa Erskine, MA, LMFT
My office is a safe space to explore your thoughts and feelings. I can help you find your strengths to build on and identify areas of needed growth we can work on together. I am here to help you find your best self. We will look at what is holding you back from that and what you already posses and can draw on to get you to a better place within yourself.
I work with individuals struggling with things like depression, anxiety, trauma, past and present; people searching for their place in this world through change and growth. I also work with couples and families, especially parents navigating family transitions such as soon to be families and new families, how parenting changes through children’s ages, and adult children dealing with aging parents.
My passion has always rested with working with others and especially those that haven’t felt like they belong in main stream culture. I find great satisfaction and strength in walking with people through their tough times. I truly believe that relationships are what make us whole and I feel honored when others allow me to be a part of that. We are better when we feel connected to a community and when we are able to surround ourselves with others that compliment our strengths and weaknesses.
Through my career I have worked with the underserved and marginalized communities providing mental health services and social services. I am constantly shown the resilience and depths of courage the human spirit is capable of. I strive to help those shine, to celebrate daily strengths that make us human and can bring us together.
When I am not doing therapy my interests usually lead me into the great outdoors with family or friends. I love hiking in the mountains and biking in the plains. I am an explorer at heart and love going to new places and experiencing new things. I also love nurturing my introvert nature by staying at home with a good book (I’m currently in a fantasy phase), sewing (mostly patching the knees of my son’s pants right now) or cooking/baking.
Insurance I can take: Aetna, America's PPO/Health EZ, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Medica, Preferred One, UCare, United Healthcare.
Also I can take: Private Pay and Health Savings Accounts.
I am available for Teletherapy appointments.
