Meet Laura Nelson, MA
You are arriving right on time, and I am glad you are here. If you are feeling unsure or confused, that’s ok. I want to help you take the next steps toward healing and change. Together, we will create goals based on what you want, how you make meaning, and what your values tell you. I want to help you advocate for yourself as the expert of your own life.
Connection with your surroundings is important for feeling balanced. My previous career was in forestry and environmental education, so I have an appreciation for how nature impacts our well-being. Some basic assumptions in my practice are that people can and do change; we all have inherent strengths to rely on; and culture, identity, and family (biological or chosen) are important to consider when choosing healing. I have clinical experience working with adults living with anxiety, depression, grief, loss, those undergoing life transitions, members of LGBTQIA+ community, and people in recovery. I use techniques from Emotionally-Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction in my practice. Additionally, I am trained as a voice coach, so if a client wishes, we can explore how voice intersects with identity and desire for change. I am currently working towards licensure as a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) in Minnesota, under the supervision of Melissa Erskine, MA, LMFT I am available for teletherapy and in-person appointments during the daytime and some evenings. Insurance I can take: Aetna, America's PPO, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, Health EZ, Health Partners, Hennepin Health, Medicaid (MA), Preferred One, and UCare. I also take private pay and Health Savings Accounts. Pronouns: she/her/hers To schedule an appointment with Laura, fill out our "Book Appointment" form below. |
