Meet Amal Aden
Embarking on the road to change is an incredible testament to your strength and resilience. I am thrilled to be part of your journey towards healing and self-discovery. I am here to provide a professional and supportive partnership, blending expertise with an understanding of the immense courage it takes to embrace transformation. As a compassionate, understanding, and culturally competent therapist, my mission is to provide a safe, accommodating, and supportive space where you can explore, grow, and thrive. Facilitating change can be difficult, and many factors can get in the way. My goal is to work collaboratively with you in this journey and overcome any obstacles or barriers along the way.
I have multiple years of both inpatient and intensive outpatient experience in patient care. I take a holistic approach to therapy, considering the interconnectedness of mind, body, and spirit. I incorporate evidence-based practices, fostering self-awareness and empowering clients to develop practical skills for coping with life's challenges. I have experience working with depression, anxiety, trauma disorders, substance use disorders, grief and loss, relational problems, and life transitions. My goal is to provide holistic culturally competent trauma-focused care that acknowledges multiple aspects contributing to mental health and substance use concerns. My therapeutic approach is guided by multiple evidence-based therapies, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Existential Therapy, and Narrative Therapy. I also align with motivational interviewing approaches that work to foster change. While these therapies currently guide me, I understand that various interventions will benefit you and aim to work collaboratively to provide you with the best holistic care. My mission is to gain a deeper understanding of your diverse situation and provide professional insight into your varied concerns. It’s vital that I make my clients feel safe, supported, and heard. I have worked in marginalized communities for many years and have experience with clients who come from immigrant communities, practice various religions, struggle with disabilities, and identify as BIPOC, and LGBTQIA+. My commitment to social justice and activism drives my work, making me particularly effective in helping clients who are seeking a therapist with an understanding of the intersections between mental health and broader societal issues. In my free time, I enjoy reading, writing, cooking, movies, photography, and spending time with my friends and family! I’m from southern Minnesota and relocated to the Twin Cities two years ago. Prior to working in counseling I worked in the hospital setting in various patient care roles for six years. I made the transition into counseling due to my passion towards mental health care. I graduated from the University of Minnesota with a Master's degree in Integrated Behavioral Health. I am a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC). Currently I am working toward my LPCC licensure under the supervision of Joan Hause, MA, LPCC at Indigo Counseling Center. I am in-network with the following insurance providers: Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, Health Partners, Hennepin Health, Medical Assistance (MA), and UCare. I also accept private pay. You don't have to face life's challenges alone. Reach out today, and let's start this journey together. Whether you're seeking support, guidance, or simply a compassionate ear, I am here for you. Contact me for the help you need, and let's create a path towards a brighter, more fulfilling future. To schedule a session with Amal, please fill out the "Book Appointment" form below. |
