Reuben Houser, MS, LPCC
I help people with anxiety, depression and trauma work towards healing and self-acceptance in all areas of life. I help people who are feeling stuck, struggling with perfectionism, having difficulty trusting others, and experiencing doubts about self-worth. Despite being able to say to themselves, "I am enough," these difficulties can repeatedly disrupt relationships with family, friends, romantic partners, and colleagues. My job is to help my clients identify core negative beliefs, work through the painful experiences that support those beliefs and construct a new, more helpful and authentic narrative.
I seek to help clients recover from emotional and verbal abuse, toxic masculinity, manipulation, neglect, and other forms of developmental wounding by employing trauma-informed methods including EMDR. I provide LGBTQ+ affirmative therapy for clients and enjoy working with diverse racial, ethnic, cultural, religious and spiritual backgrounds. I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor in the State of Minnesota and earned my Master of Science in Marriage, Couple, and Family Counseling from Walden University.
The issue of racial justice is personal to me. My wife of ten years is a smart, strong and beautiful black woman. I strive to understand the experiences of marginalized populations in this country and live in ways that support justice and reconciliation.
It is said that music is the universal language. I agree with that sentiment and would argue that the game of soccer is a close second! I have always enjoyed playing soccer and continue to be delighted by the power it has to bring together people from all walks of life. In my free time, I enjoy making new friends during pick-up games around the metro area.
