Meet Chelsea Deklotz, MSEd, Therapist
My office is a safe place for overachievers, perfectionists, and people pleasers to put down these roles and look inward. I specialize in working with individuals who feel like they are doing all the right things, but still feel stuck and lonely. I’m experienced in working with anxiety, depression, questions of identity, loneliness, relationship concerns, trauma, PTSD, and more. Individuals of all races, ethnicities, sexual orientations, genders, religions, and abilities are welcome. I believe that therapy should be tailored to affirm each client’s intersectional identity; with me, there is no one-size-fits-all template. Working together, we will undo the aloneness that you feel. You will find confidence, acceptance and self-assuredness in living your authentic life. I’m here to help you build meaningful relationships and find strength in places that feel broken.
I hold a dual Bachelors degree in Fine Arts, Graphic Design and Photography from the UW-Milwaukee. During my ten-year career in the NYC art world, I found myself in a similar position that you may be in right now. After experiencing the life-altering potential of psychotherapy myself, I shifted my career focus to helping others with their physical and mental health. I became a Certified Holistic Health Coach and shortly after attended Hunter College where I received a Masters of Science in Education in Mental Health Counseling.
My time in NYC was an invaluable experience which challenged and expanded my mind and communities. I'm a Midwesterner at heart, having been raised in Wisconsin, and am grateful to be back in the area. I am trained in a number of therapy techniques and holistic health. Our work together will focus on increasing psychological and emotional flexibility, exploring early attachments, and finding safety in relationships, including the relationship you have with yourself. I am currently working towards licensure as a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) in Minnesota, under the supervision of Joan Hause, MA, MFA, LPCC.
Outside of work, I actively participate in racial and social justice movements, including LGBTQIA+ and immigrant rights and anti-mass incarceration actions. These things inform my work as a therapist, as I take a warm, nonjudgmental, and collaborative approach and work from a holistic, social justice, and trauma informed perspective. You can also find me bringing our rescue pup Juniper to the dog park, going to my local powerlifting gym, buying more plants for our house, or watching true crime and nature documentaries.
